Position Details
Purpose Statement:
To encourage and promote the educational and social success of students who have learning disabilities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities: (Does not include all tasks employee may be expected to perform.
)
Employ various teaching methods and strategies.
Gear curriculum requirements to meet the educational and social needs of SE students.
Develop behavioral management programs appropriate to student needs.
Efficiently document student progress and PLEP/IEP information and maintain student records.
Collaborate with general educational teachers and other support staff.
Develop and maintain a positive rapport with students, parents, staff and the community.
Seek out and utilize outside resources.
Attend and/or chair IEPs for students on caseload.
Adhere to state and district guidelines regarding Professional Development opportunities and requirements.
Consider students’ transitional success into real life experiences and the world of work.
Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be qualified to perform essential duties.

Certification to teach SE students in given age/grade levels
Education And/Or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with endorsements in needed specific areas (at specified grade level)
Preferred experience working with students who have diverse learning needs
Preferred experience working with diverse populations
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations (if applicable):
Michigan Teaching Certificate with specific special education endorsement/s
