Position Summary Shift Managers supervise and work along-side direct care staff to ensure all agency, local and state policies, procedures, and expectations are met.
The youth have behavioral and emotional needs so training is provided on verbal de-escalation and behavior management skills in order to manage volatile and high risk situations.
A high energy level, self-discipline, an attention to detail, and leadership skills are necessary in this role.
Shift Managers will ensure all documentation is completed accurately and timely each shift and will ensure activities for the youth are planned and facilitated daily.
Training is provided in advance of working with the youth or in the Shift Manager role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Supervise, engage, and positively interact with youth with emotional and/or behavioral problems in a home-like environment.
· Develop and facilitate behavioral programming.
· Accurately record data (shift notes, IR’s, behavioral objectives) on individual residents, including daily observations and information about activities, behaviors and social interactions with peers.
· Teach and assist residents in activities of daily living including self-care habits such as eating, hygiene, etc.
· Plan, organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games, painting, drawing, crafts, singing, sports, etc.
· Perform household responsibilities to include preparing food for residents, general cleaning, and minor maintenance necessary to keep youth safe.
· Teach social and independent living skills.
· Provide coping skills, verbally attempt to de-escalate residents when in crisis.
Use approved physical crisis intervention as a last resort to keep residents and staff safe.
· Utilize trauma informed treatment approaches in all interactions with youth following the SAMHSA principles and domains.
Contribute to a positive work environment by following Genacross’ mission and vision statements.
· Communicate with co-workers and supervisors to help create safe environment for residents and staff.
Provide information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
· Attend Service Plan Review Meetings, scheduled meetings and trainings are required.
· Provide shift coverage as needed and in emergencies · Preforms other job duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s Degree preferred · Passion for Mission: A genuine passion for Genacross Lutheran Services' mission of compassion and service to others is essential.
Understanding and embracing the organization's faith-based values is important in effectively representing Genacross to the community.
Compensation $24.
00 - $27.
00 per hour based on experience and education.

A supervisor of direct care workers shall have 1 of the following: (a) A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of work experience in a child caring institution.
(b) Two years of college from an accredited college or university and 3 years of work experience in a child caring institution.
(c) A high school diploma and 4 years of work experience in a child caring institution.
