Hotel Investment Services (HIS) is excited to announce the opening of The Keefer House Hotel, a 34-room boutique hotel located in Hillsdale, MI.
This historic hotel will also have a trendy restaurant and bar that will be open to serve the community as well as hotel guests.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of General Manager.
The hotel is expected to open its doors to the public late this fall and the General Manager will play a key role in the pre-opening and management of this outstanding property and historic Dawn Theater.
This position will be intimately involved in establishing an outstanding culture and helping to create a brand identity that will ensure the success of The Keefer House Hotel.

Salary Range: $75,000.

Ability to commute/relocate:
Hillsdale, Michigan: Candidate must be able to commute daily or is willing to relocate before starting work (Required)
Specific Tasks:
Perform administrative duties including reading and writing reports, communicating with guests, managers, corporate office, local associations, etc.
Critically review reports of occupancy, revenue etc.
Make judgments and implement changes to maximize profits.
Supervise development of and revisions to business plan, annual budget and annual and monthly forecasts, etc.
Communicate with the public, staff, corporate office and owners.
Create SOP’s
Create a professional environment establishing a strong culture amongst employees to achieve company goals and objectives.
Interview, hire supervise and counsel department managers in the efficient operation of their respective area(s).
Meet with, develop, and delegate improvement plans for operation and review performance of management team.
Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication.
Participate in community affairs and maintain positive public image for the hotel.
Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
Physically tour and inspect property daily.
Monitor cost control, property condition, cleanliness and quality of product and service throughout hotel.
Greet and maintain rapport with associates and customers.
Travel to attend corporate meetings, sales trips and attend community events.
What is required?
Previous experience as a General Manager, preferably in an upscale or independent boutique hotel preferred.
The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, work location, etc.
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and late nights.
Hospitality industry experience, demonstrating progressive career growth.
Must be involved with all guest relations to ensure exceptional service.
Exhibit progressive leadership skills that inspire a team to achieve their fullest potential.
Knowledge of Restaurant and Banquet operations.
Strong understanding of budget development and expense management / P&L knowledge.
Must be a strong leader with the ability to motivate staff.
