Prepares and sets up all molding machines (horizontal and vertical) to operate in a safe manner, producing quality parts to production requirements.
Works from changeover instructions given and follows all guide lines provided.
Associate is responsible for all press changeovers and minor maintenance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Receives instructions from team leader and molding trainer and transmits them to associates when appropriate.
• Follow safety rules and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• With the assistance of Molding Supervisor and Molding Process Engineer can be involved in new tool development.
• Changes molds sometimes with the assistance of “A” operator.
Determines disposition of mold after removal (tool room repair preventative maintenance or storage).
5S the machine after the changeover.
• Verifying correct material being used during tool set up and verify that proper regrind and correct shot size being used according to instruction given.
• Keeps department in good 5S order.
• Responsible for monitoring processes and documenting any outside of tolerance settings conditions.
• Performs TPM on molding machines by filling and checking machine oil levels, checking safety bars and filling out work orders for machines and auxiliary equipment that is down.
Tags mold with proper label and stores in proper rack.
• Assists in training all “A” and “B” operators.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: • For vacations or absenteeism of operator “S” on different shifts.
• Uses hand tools, crane, grinders, calipers and gages.
• May use power industrial trucks, and hand pallet jack.
• Occasionally interacts with suppliers on potential quality problems.
• Could be utilized in Kaizen activities that relate to Quality or Changeover improvements SPECIALIZED TRAINING, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE: • 3 years minimum previous molding experience.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS: • Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment.
Exposure to dangerous equipment.
• Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
• Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
