*GENERAL SUMMARY:* Operates and maintains vehicle for transporting cargo to and from assigned destinations.
Loading and unloading required.
Package product for shipment per the shipping schedule.
Prepares shipments for delivery to customers.
Works independently on regularly scheduled tasks with periodic interaction with manager.
Work is guided by established company policy and quality requirements of customers.
Work does not involve direction or supervision of other employees.
*QUALIFICATIONS:* General educational background with both written and verbal communication skills typically acquired through completion of high school.
Chauffeur’s license required.
CDL license and delivery/driving experience preferred.
*DUTIES:* * Drive truck with capacity under twelve (12) tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations in a safe and professional manner * Maintain telephone contact to receive instructions * Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures * Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions * Report accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles to manager * Inspect truck equipment daily i.
e.
tires, lights, brakes, oil, water, etc.
Report any maintenance needed or any mechanical problems encountered to the manager and follow up to see that maintenance and/or repair has been completed * Complete daily log and vehicle inspection sheets * Load and unload vehicles as required, verifying the load against appropriate shipping documents * Log incoming parts for the Quality Department to inspect * Follow barcode system requirements * Close all containers in the shipping area when not in use * Package parts for shipment per shipping schedule * Load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks * Knowledgeable for locating both in-process and finished product * Follow Management Systems procedures and work instructions * Participate in SysteManagment meetings on periodic basis * Communicate with and assist all departments as needed * Participate on cross functional teams as needed * Participate in the continuous improvement, research and recommendations for all operational processes * Assist in maintaining safe practices for all employees * Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment by following the 5S principles * Complete all other specially assigned tasks or projects *RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY:* * Support production of profitable product * Responsible for delivery or pick up of goods and product * Responsible for protecting product and goods from damage caused by handling or shipping * Responsible for representing Rima in a professional manner * Responsible for supporting the department in all functions to assure accuracy and superior customer service * Responsible for accurate and detailed record keeping * Responsible for making certain that product leaving Rima is in an appropriate condition that reflects a professional appearance * Responsible for maintaining Rima vehicles, by filling the vehicle with fuel, checking oil levels, getting oil changed, plugging in diesel truck during cold weather, and following all vehicle maintenance guidelines *WORKING CONDITIONS:* Off Site: Employee is exposed to general road and driver hazards.
On Site: Employee will also be exposed to the noise, fumes and temperature extremes typically found in a light manufacturing environment.
Risk of injury from being in close proximity of operating machinery is possible, but unlikely if proper safety precautions are followed.
Lifting requirements for this position dictate that the employee must be physically capable of lifting a minimum of 40# on a repetitive basis and a maximum of 80# on an occasional basis.
