We are looking for: Measurement Engineer The Measurement Engineer assist in the development, design and testing of new products or systems.
The incumbent works on a team with other engineers, scientist, and technicians on moderately complex projects to ensure that their projects meet all relevant safety standards and specifications.
The Measurement Engineer tests mechanical and electromechanical products and systems and is responsible for the mechanical testing and maintenance of products in production, as well as testing prototypes.
Metering Regulation & Controls (MR&C) Engineering is responsible for engineering and design of all gas regulator stations, City Gates, odorizers, Transfer Meter Stations, and large customer meters.
MR&C Engineering also provides field and technical support for our partners in M&R Operations.
The knowledge and skills involved with this position include but are not limited to: Analytical and problem-solving skills Mechanical and technical skills Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software; SolidWorks, Inventor or Cre preferred Written and verbal communication skills Organizational skills and attention to detail Strong understanding of GD&T principles Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software We encourage you to apply if you have: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university with two (2) or more years of applicable engineering work experience [OR] Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a non-ABET accredited university with a Professional Engineering license with two (2) or more years of applicable engineering work experience In this role, you will: Serving as primary Project Engineer on a wide variety of MR&C projects, including Transfer Meter Stations, RNG Meter Stations, Gas Analysis installation projects, and other projects performed in support of MR&C safety, deliverability, integrity, and compliance Serving as a contributing stakeholder in a project where Measurement Engineering supports procurement of measurement equipment Serving as a technical expert in measurement equipment such as Ultrasonic Meters, Coriolis meters, Orifice meters, Gas Chromatograph, rotary meters, H2O analyzers, H2S analyzers, O2 analyzers, and Hydrocarbon Dew point Analyzers Interfacing with internal and external contacts in order to execute projects, including but not limited to Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, Project Controls, Real Estate, Permitting, Customer Account Managers, Customer Deliverability, Meter Technology Center, Warehousing, other engineering disciplines and others Execution of engineering-specific project tasks, such as MR&C scope document creation, design engineering, design review meetings, material selection, submission of purchase and service requisitions, project outage coordination, project closeout and field technical support Conducting project site walk-downs, coordinating meetings, and providing project/program updates to Consumers Energy management and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) Supporting integration of new measurement technology by collaborating with field measurement/EI&C on wiring, communication protocol, testing, and startup Install remote operated valves and pressure limiting devices Design, control, and implement mechanical systems and products Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial, or domestic purposes Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing mechanical systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential mechanical engineering projects and studies Preparing specifications for purchases of mechanical equipment and materials and estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary Why should you join our team?
