GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, installs, modifies and maintains electrical systems for all Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) facilities.
Utilizing knowledge of electrical maintenance and construction, interprets electrical blueprints, sketches and connection diagrams.
Performs other related duties as required.
PRINCIPAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Responds to service calls received through the Physical Facilities Maintenance Control Center, and makes necessary repairs in accordance with National Electric Codes (NEC) and local building and safety codes.
2.
Installs light fixtures, switches, electrical receptacles, motor, controls and special equipment according to blueprints, sketches and verbal instruction.
Selects and installs proper materials such as conduits, boxes and clamps as required.
3.
Troubleshoots general basic and complex circuitry involving lighting, receptacles, circuit breakers, motors, controls, transformers and special equipment following blueprints and instructions using electrical testing equipment such as ohmmeters, ammeters and power hand tools.
4.
Installs electrical wiring and equipment in areas that are in the process of being renovated in accordance with NEC and local codes.
5.
Performs special circuitry work for the Operating Room and Radiology such as the installation of explosion-proof equipment in accordance with NEC and local regulations.
6.
Studies blueprints and layouts to ascertain layout and location of electrical equipment.
7.
Cuts and shapes conduit with hand tools and fastens in place with brackets.
Runs wire through conduit and makes connections to complete circuits.
8.
Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A valid journeyman's license as an Electrician.
Eight (8) years of experience including on-the-job training or an electrical apprenticeship to be aware of a variety of complex electrical problems.
Must be familiar with basic electrical sections of public building and safety codes.
Ability to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of electrical material weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Is assisted by electrical crew members when weight exceeds fifty (50) pounds.
Ability to climb a ladder, and use a man lift, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to electrical wiring
