Job Summary: This role provides leadership and direction to the Maintenance department and its staff members.
This position is on the 3rd shift .
Required Qualifications: College courses in Maintenance related discipline; Millwright or Electrical certificate of qualification is preferred Strong communicator in the English Language, both written and oral Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in Maintenance position in industry; Must have experience in welding facility Proficient in Microsoft office High level of time management and organizational skills Ability to lead a team Strong technical and problem solving skills Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations Critical Success Factors: Excellent attendance Ability to interact with the Management Team in a professional manner to continually enhance the company's performance Desire to learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor, and participating in production meetings A complete hands on approach is required to assist the plant in developing into a successful and profitable division of Martinrea, a multi-billion dollar company Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment Ability to mentor and guide subordinates to achieve overall departmental goals and objectives Respecting and understanding of the Customer/Supplier relationship Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition Responsibilities: Supervise, train, develop and conduct evaluations of the Maintenance department Supervise maintenance related functions: PM program/ schedule that ensures machine robustness along with the coordination of production schedule needs Ensure all equipment and tools are maintained properly to avoid interruption of production and to minimize unnecessary downtime Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems Ensure availability of replacement parts for key manufacturing equipment to minimize unnecessary machine downtime Maintain maintenance related records To co-ordinate with outside contractors on equipment repairs and to source the most effective repairs and upgrades cost Provide input and ensure completion of CI projects Able to stand in for Maintenance Manager in absence Ensure proper planning and control for all areas of responsibility in Maintenance department (e.
g.
labor, overtime, equipment, travel, etc).
Maintains clear written records Creates and ensures a safe and secure work environment Achieve goals and objectives that are set out each year by the Maintenance Manager Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory and operational expense.
Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook Decision Making and Authority: Oversee the following positions on a functional level (follow up and determine compliance): Maintenance Associates Weld Techs Maintenance Apprentices Working Conditions Plant Floor Office Effort/Physical Demands Constant communication with employees, peers, and management Health and Safety Responsibilities Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or certain clothing as required by the company Back-up Duties: Perform other duties as required
