Set-Up Operator (Press) - 1st Shift

Summary Sets up and operates power press to trim, punch, shape, notch, draw, or crimp metal by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities Assembles, installs, aligns dies in press and/or sets rolls to produce production parts according to specifications.
Adjusts ram stroke to specified length.
Positions workpiece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
Starts press observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
Inspects workpieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors.
Cleans and lubricates machines.
Sets up auxiliary equipment such as reel stands, straightener, shaker, etc.
Evaluate set-ups to ensure customer specifications are met.
Takes ownership of press operation and production.
Monitors product quality (raw, WIP, SQC, and finished goods).
Monitor process settings, parameters and outputs.
Monitor tool condition.
Monitor scrap and defects.
Ensures production standards are met in regard to safety, quality, productivity and efficiency.
Education and/or Experience One year certificate from college or technical school in related field and three; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have demonstrated mechanical apptitude.
Prior experience setting of manufacturing machinery is preferred.
Must be willing to work extended hours and overtime as needed to reduce downtime and meet customer demands.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract decimal numbers.
Must have basic math skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must have valid drivers license.
Prior forklift experience preferred.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee: Must be able to stand 8 or more hours a day use both hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
