Description The College Life Coordinator position is responsible for the operation of student activities and intramurals for the Jackson College community.
The coordinator is expected to enhance the living environment of the community through staff development, resident outreach, creative programming, and student organizations.
This position shall work in collaboration with the Director of Residence Life Team, Multi-Cultural Office, Athletics, TRIO, International, and Phi Theta Kappa.
Essential Functions ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1.
Responsible for understanding, supporting, and actively demonstrating the College’s beliefs, values, mission, and vision and agreeing to be evaluated by same.
2.
Develop relationships/collaborate with faculty and all Jackson College campuses to ensure campus life programs/services strongly support student learning, the college’s mission, and strategic agenda.
3.
Promoting diversity and inclusion on campus through events.
4.
Assisting with new student orientation and welcome events to help incoming students 5.
Offering development opportunities, workshops, and training to empower student leaders.
6.
Monthly/Weekly programming for all Jackson College students.
7.
Evaluate overall program effectiveness and make changes as needed.
8.
Support students' well-being by coordinating health and wellness programs, mental health awareness campaigns, and recreational activities.
9.
Managing budgets for campus life programs and events, ensuring financial resources are utilized effectively.
10.
Collect feedback and data to evaluate the impact of campus life initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
11.
Collaborate with residence life staff for special events, move-in, welcome week, etc.
12.
Establish and maintain effective student relations by cooperating with student retention projects, maintaining positive contact with students, and offering support to contribute to students’ success and growth.
13.
Communicate regularly with the Chief Diversity Officer providing regular updates on activities occurring in campus life.
14.
Work in conjunction with Marketing to advertise and promote campus life activities.
15.
Assist in establishing an annual plan for and execution of campus life activities.
16.
Develop and implement plans and policies for campus life and student organizations including but not limited to student government, student activities, campus organizations, and interest groups.
17.
Works with student leaders, staff, and faculty to plan, organize, promote, supervise, and evaluate Campus Life programs, events, and activities to meet the needs of students.
18.
Coordinates student government and student organization leaders through meetings, events, organizational communication, one-on-one conferences, teambuilding sessions, and leadership retreats.
19.
Collaborate with marketing to promote student organizations and provides training and experiences within these organizations which help develop leadership skills and learning outcomes for students.
20.
Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices of Jackson College.
21.
Ensure events and activities adhere to safety guidelines and collaborate with campus security.
22.
Provide excellent customer service handling inquiries and requests from different parties and answering questions in a professional and friendly manner.
23.
Post and maintain office hours as determined by the area’s needs.
Expectations include some evening and weekend events.
24.
Coordinator of Intramural Sports Program – Organize and manage the men's, women's, and co-recreational program, including fall, spring, and summer term structured activities, emphasizing diversity in both sports offerings and levels of competition.
Create an environment that educates and promotes sportsmanship and participation in recreational activities, in addition to providing a program in which risks are minimized.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Diversity Officer CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTS Internal: Frequent contact in an information-sharing capacity with faculty, staff, and students, especially in departments like campus life and Athletics, Student Services, Facilities Operations, Marketing, Housing, and Cultural Affairs.
External: Regular contact with students and community members in a service-provider capacity, providing information and problem-solving.
Communicate with JC stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred and two years in college/university setting working with students.
Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles, knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, and skill in communicating effectively with individuals from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds are needed.
Possess a strong understanding and commitment to student development.
Key Success Factors Computer Skills Knowledge of personal computers and software including word processing, spreadsheets, and Data.
Must demonstrate ongoing proficiency in computer use and reporting activities.
Customer Service Demonstrates proactive communication and customer service strategies that align with JC’s institutional values.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrates understanding of the role campus life plays in student success/ retention.
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports, action plans, and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Good command of grammar.
Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate addition and subtraction and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Experience with budget management.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
