Fall 2024: Special Education Teacher with Cognitive Impairment (SA) Endorsement

Posting for Fall 2024 Teaching Position Addison High School and Middle School Must possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a Cognitive Impairment (SA) endorsemen Knowledge of and commitment to best practices as supported by current research to teach the District’s adopted curriculum in regard to the Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and a willingness to attend workshops to strengthen skills.
Must be knowledgeable of and able to demonstrate effective classroom strategies and management techniques for the resource room and in co-taught classes.
Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) preferred.
Ability to assist students in problem solving activities regarding behaviors and academics through knowledge of varied intervention theories and actions.
Knowledge and/or experience writing Behavioral Assessments and Behavioral Plans desired.
Experience with and ability to implement assessments and IEP/MET student data to drive meaningful instruction.
Must support inclusionary classroom practices classroom practices, willingly participating in co-teaching with professional staff.
Must be familiar with general education curricula.
Must be able to adapt to a variety of educational delivery models and be skilled in accommodating learning differences.
Must demonstrate competency in communications with parents and colleagues.
Willingness to maintain/facilitate frequent conversations/communications with parents and colleagues outside of designated conferences.
Keep informed of and comply with school, district, state, and federal requirements and policies for teachers of special education.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and other documents as required.
