Position Details
SUMMARY:
To provide leadership and direct coaching in the ongoing development and improvement of instruction in all areas of K-3 literacy, interventions, consultation, and assessment in support of all students’ increased growth.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Instructional skills and knowledge base in early literacy components such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension
• Familiarity and success with utilizing formative, screening, and diagnostic tools with students to determine appropriate reading instruction
• Ability to utilize data from diagnostic tools to determine additional extra supports needed in order to read at grade level by the end of 3rd Grade
• Successful experience in classroom instructional development, curriculum design, and assessment
• Successful experience providing professional development training
• Master’s Degree in Education with teaching experience at Grades K-3
Preferred:
• Reading Specialist certification, LETRS training, or the equivalent amount of training focused
on research-based practices in early literacy
• Michigan School Administrator Certification
